More Information

Maintaining normal blood sugar is ideal for diabetics. However, extrinsic factors such as stress or daily commitments such as work schedules may interfere with proper diabetes management. Normal blood sugar readings are measured between your fasting blood sugar level and the level approximately 2 hours after eating a carbohydrate meal. A reading of 70 - 100 mg/dL after not eating for up to 8 hours is considered normal.

Normal post-meal blood sugar is between 100-140 mg/dL after eating. A range of 90 to 150 mg/dL before bedtime is also normal for diabetics. Staying active, eating healthy, managing stress, taking diabetes medicine, and testing blood sugar once or twice a day helps keep glucose range normal.
